Just As i Am...

blinking through the tears

this right here is excellent!
i saw it
and cried
and then cried some more!

it just SPEAKS
in a world so obsessed with looks
and weight
and size
and color
and height
and appearance
and fat

... it just reminds me that we our basing everything off a false reality
and it's sad that we can't break from it
no matter how hard we try

but it's engrained in our genetics to always compare
so how in the world did marketing strategies manage to monopolize our self esteems
???

so yeah, dove!
i'm in on your campaign for REAL BEAUTY!
and thank you

First of all, thank you for telling me about this video. It's so amazing.

I got on the Dove website and read some of the self esteem stories that were on there. THAT made me want to cry. Hearing stories of women who were raped, sexually assaulted, tortured by their parents.....it went on and on. Now I know that I have body issues (don't we all) but I really feel fortunate after reading these stories. I am so fortunate! So what if my roots are showing and I'm overweight....I don't have to deal with anything like these people. Right now I feel VERY shallow.

hell yes.
i am in love with dove.
i hate marketing.
i really do.
i guess i should say "beauty" marketing.
it makes me sick.
and i hate that it has also made me feel ugly more than once.
i hate that i have fallen into that bullshit.
i'm SO glad they made this,
THIS is the type of shit they need to be teaching in our schools......
every high school should show this....
to the girls....
AND THE BOYS.

That is such a cool video. It's amazing how much just putting on the makeup changes her look.

Dove is awesome.

dayum.

that is all I can say.

I can't compete, you know? I mean not even for *me*- I'm talking I can't compete with the *media* to make my daughter KNOW that she will always be beautiful-and that the "beauty" she sees in the mags, on the billboard is NOT REAL...

f*ck- ya know?!

Wow this is my first time watching this commercial and it's really disturbing...thanks for sharing. This is the perfect piece to share with young teenagers to show them that it's not worth it.
